The East Central Railway (ECR), under the Indian Government’s Railway Ministry, has issued a recruitment notification for Group C and Group D jobs under the Scout & Guide Quota. Eastern Railway has released this notification to fill Group C and Group D posts.
Total Number of Vacancies:
A total of 15 posts
- Group C Positions – 3 Posts (2 in Headquarters Office, 1 at Rail Wheel Plant, Bela)
- Group D Positions – 12 Posts (10 in the 5 Divisions of E.C. Railway: Dhanbad, Danapur, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Sonpur, Samastipur, and 2 at Rail Wheel Plant, Bela)
Salary:
| Group C | Pay Level 2 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200) |
| Group D | Pay Level 1 (₹18,000 – ₹56,900) |
Qualifications:
| Group C | 12th pass (+2 stage) or its equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized board. Candidates with higher qualifications (Graduation/Post-Graduation) are exempt from the 50% marks requirement. For the Clerk-cum-Typist position, candidates must acquire typing proficiency of 30 w.p.m. in English or 25 w.p.m. in Hindi within 2 years of appointment. (OR) 10th pass plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship or ITI for Technician Grade III. |

| Scouting / Guiding Qualifications (for both Group C and D) | A President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger or Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) holder. Must have been an active member of a Scout Organization for the last 5 years. Must have participated in at least: Two National Level or All Indian Railways Events, Two State Level Events |
Age Limit:
- Group C (Level 2): 18 to 30 years (as of 01.01.2025)
- Group D (Level 1): 18 to 33 years (as of 01.01.2025)
Age Relaxation:
- SC / ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwBD: 10 years

Examination Fee:
- For General/OBC candidates: ₹500
- ₹400 will be refunded to candidates who appear for the written examination.
- ₹400 will be refunded to candidates who appear for the written examination.
- For SC/ST, Ex-servicemen, PwBD, Women, Minorities, Economically Backward Classes: ₹250
- ₹250 will be refunded to candidates who appear for the written examination.
The fees must be paid through an Indian Postal Order (IPO) drawn in favor of FA&CAO, East Central Railway, payable at Hajipur.
Selection Process:
- Written Test: 60 marks
- 40 Objective Type questions related to Scouting/Guiding and General Knowledge (40 marks)
- 1 Essay-type question (20 marks)
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- Marks for Certificates: 40 marks
- Participation in National Events: 10 marks
- Participation in State Events: 10 marks
- Specialized Scout/Guide Courses: 10 marks
- Participation in District Rallies: 10 marks
