Eligibility Criteria:

Education Qualification:

  • Candidates must have an ITI (National Trade Certificate) in Welder Trade along with a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC).
  • For UR, OBC, and EWS categories: A minimum of 60% marks in both ITI and NAC is required.
  • For SC/ST categories: A minimum of 55% marks in both ITI and NAC is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of post-NAC work experience in welding (exclusive of the apprenticeship or trainee period).
  • Candidates with IBR Certification are also eligible to apply.

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in high-precision welding techniques including arc welding, gas torch welding, and plasma cutting.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications for material preparation and welding operations.
  • Experience in operating and maintaining welding equipment in various site conditions, including confined spaces and at significant heights (up to 100 meters).
  • Expertise in selecting and handling different types of welding electrodes.
  • Strong visual inspection skills to ensure welding quality and compliance with safety and technical standards.
  • Capable of conducting repairs, maintenance, and modifications on thermal power equipment and piping systems.
  • Strict adherence to workplace safety protocols, including the use of PPE.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform specialized welding tasks on power plant equipment and piping, adhering to strict safety and technical specifications.
  • Carry out welding tasks at significant heights during power plant construction and repair projects.
  • Prepare and align welding materials, interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct visual inspections of welded surfaces to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Repair and maintain thermal power equipment and piping as required.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, welding processes, and inspections.
  • Ensure all tasks adhere to workplace safety protocols and compliance with site regulations.

Documents required:

Requisite documents to be enclosed with the application:

  1. Proof of Date of Birth: Matric/SSC certificate, Transfer Certificate (TC), PAN Card, Passport, or AADHAR Card (date of birth must be mentioned in dd/mm/yyyy format).
  2. Educational Qualification: ITI & NAC Certificates along with mark sheets, IBR Certificate (if applicable).
  3. Category Certificate: SC/ST/OBC Non-creamy layer certificate (OBC certificate must be obtained on or after 01.01.2024 as per the format on the website).
  4. Self-undertaking: For OBC candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer, in the prescribed format.
  5. EWS Certificate: For EWS candidates, the certificate must be in the prescribed format and obtained on or after 01.01.2024.
  6. Discharge Certificates: For Ex-Servicemen only.
  7. Domicile Certificate: For Jammu & Kashmir candidates (if applicable).
  8. Work Experience Proof: Any one of the following documents:
    • Joining and Relieving Letter from previous employers.
    • Experience/Service certificate clearly indicating the date of joining and relieving.
    • Salary certificate together with Income Tax Return (ITR) or Form-16 from past or present employer(s).

Documents required at the time of the Skill Test:

  1. Proof of Date of Birth: Matric/SSC certificate, Transfer Certificate (TC), PAN Card, Passport, or AADHAR Card (with the date of birth clearly mentioned in dd/mm/yyyy format).
  2. Educational Qualification & Certification: ITI & NAC Certificates along with mark sheets, IBR Certificate (if applicable).
  3. Category Certificate: SC/ST/OBC Non-creamy layer certificate (if applicable).
  4. Self-undertaking: In the prescribed format for OBC candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer.
  5. EWS Certificate: In the prescribed format (if applicable).
  6. Discharge Certificate: For Ex-Servicemen only.
  7. Domicile Certificate: For candidates from Jammu & Kashmir (if applicable).
  8. Work Experience Proof: Documents supporting the duration of work experience.

Document Verification:

  • All candidates must provide original documents during the skill test for verification.
  • Failure to produce the required documents will result in disqualification from the skill test, and no travel reimbursement will be provided.

Medical Standards:

  • Candidates should be in good health and will undergo a medical examination by the company’s authorized medical officer.
  • Final selection is contingent upon meeting the prescribed medical standards for the role.
  • Medically unfit candidates will not be considered for the position.

Selection Process:

  1. Application Screening: Applications will be screened based on the advertised educational qualifications and relevant work experience in welding.
  2. Shortlisting: In case of a large number of eligible applicants, candidates will be shortlisted for the skill test in a 1:5 ratio based on merit, including ITI & NAC marks and relevant work experience.
    • Marks Weightage: 50% for ITI Marks, 25% for NAC Marks, and 25% for qualifying experience.
    • Additional Marks: Candidates with valid IBR Certification (as of 01.10.2024) will receive extra points.
  3. Skill Test: Shortlisted candidates will undergo a skill test at a BHEL-designated venue. The test may require candidates to stay for 3-4 days at their own expense.
    • Travel reimbursement for the skill test will be provided (II Class Sleeper train fare).
  4. Medical Examination: Candidates who pass the skill test will undergo a medical examination before final selection.

Training:

  • Welders without IBR certification will receive IBR Welder training, followed by engagement on a Fixed Tenure Basis upon successful certification.
